Bhutan

Bhutan is a remote, very seclusive country in the Himalayas, bordering India and Tibet. Only a small number of visitors is admitted each year. Bhutan's landscape is very scenic. However, the main fascination is its culture, beautiful historic fortresses ("Thongs")  and strict devotion to Buddhism (which is not considered a religion but a philosophy). A majority of Bhutan's population are monks for life from the very early age and live in Buddhist monasteries under very strict, hierarchic rules.
